NC legislator urges dialogue with Pakistan for peace
A member of the National Conference (NC), Ali Mohammad Sagar, has called for renewed talks between India and Pakistan. He believes dialogue is the only way to resolve ongoing issues. Sagar spoke during a legislative assembly meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in attendance. He reminded the opposition that the people of Kashmir supported Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for India, not a more divisive approach. Sagar urged BJP leaders, like RS Pathania, to persuade their party to restart discussions with Pakistan. Earlier, Pathania criticized previous attempts to engage with Pakistan, citing terror attacks in Uri and Pulwama as betrayals of trust. During the same legislative session, Sagar acknowledged that Pakistan is facing serious challenges but maintained that talks are necessary for peace in Jammu and Kashmir. However, BJP leader Sunil Sharma expressed strong opposition to Sagar's comments. He argued that Pakistan is a supporter of terrorism and said it is unacceptable to discuss dialogue with them. Sharma urged the Speaker of the assembly to prevent such discussions from continuing.
