Nearly one million children in Ontario will gain access to school meals this year through a federal investment of $108.5 million over three years. This funding will support the existing Student Nutrition Program and First Nations Student Nutrition Program. The initiative aims to provide meals to children in about 75 percent of Ontario schools before the summer break. This is part of a broader National School Food Program, which plans to serve an additional 400,000 children annually. Ontario has now joined Newfoundland and Labrador and Manitoba in this program. Premier Doug Ford previously expressed strong support for the federal initiative.
