Mumbai's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Tuesday that nearly 3,000 vehicles were fined for speeding on the city's coastal road. In a written response to a question from opposition leader Ambadas Danve, Shinde provided the figure of 2,964 fines issued. The Worli and Tardeo transport offices have been actively checking vehicles for speeding. Officials are using automatic number plate recognition cameras and speed guns to enforce the rules. Shinde revealed that the transport department also conducted a special operation at Bandra Reclamation to address loud noises and racing vehicles. The coastal road spans 10 kilometers from Marine Drive to Worli. It has opened in phases since March 12, 2024.
