Neco Williams honors grandfather while aiming for Champions League
Neco Williams, a star player in the Premier League, has found a way to honor his late grandfather, Kelvin Jones. Kelvin passed away before Wales’ World Cup match against the USA in November 2022. To remember him, Williams has a special ring with Kelvin's name and years of birth and death engraved on it. Williams, who plays for Nottingham Forest after previously winning a championship with Liverpool, says his grandfather played a significant role in his football career. He recalls how Kelvin would drive him to training several times a week, often traveling long distances. Williams feels grateful for all the sacrifices his family has made to support him. As Williams prepares for Wales’ upcoming match against Kazakhstan, he expresses that he continues to play for his grandfather and family. He believes that playing for the national team is not just about individual success but also about representing loved ones who have helped him along the way. Wales did not perform well in their last World Cup, exiting in the group stage without scoring many goals. However, Williams is optimistic about their chances for the next World Cup in 2026. He hopes Wales can qualify and show the world what they are capable of, aiming for a more impactful performance than before.
