Arunachal Pradesh Governor K T Parnaik spoke about security challenges in Northeast India at a seminar at Rajiv Gandhi University. He said a comprehensive approach is needed to improve safety in the region. Parnaik stressed the importance of gaining trust from local communities, reducing casualties, and respecting human rights during operations by security forces. He discussed how the Northeast has been treated differently than other parts of India, especially during British rule. He pointed out that this long-standing neglect has contributed to the rise of insurgency in the area. Parnaik, who is also the chief rector of the university, praised the organization of the seminar. He believes it will help develop better military strategies and enhance national security. He encouraged researchers to focus on military history for their doctoral studies. Fresh ideas from young scholars could provide valuable insights into national security, he said. Several experts, including retired professor Imdad Hussan and university vice-chancellor S K Nayak, participated in the seminar. A total of 13 research papers were presented during the event.
