Neighbors protest against 40ft cabin invading privacy
Residents in Rhos on Sea, North Wales, are upset about a large cabin being built by their neighbor. The 40-foot structure is part of an Airbnb that costs £5,000 a week and has been compared to a “prison camp watchtower.” Neighbors say it invades their privacy and ruins their views. The property, worth £700,000, is in an upscale area and has attracted complaints from locals about the construction of the elevated cabin. The work was initially stopped after a planning application was denied. However, a new application has been submitted, leading residents to voice their concerns again. Local resident Nick Whitmore expressed frustration, saying the cabin overlooks his daughter's bedroom. He mentioned that guests at the Airbnb rotate frequently, adding to his family's worries about noise and privacy. Other neighbors also wrote to Conwy Council, comparing the cabin’s design to a watchtower and arguing it is out of place in the neighborhood. Despite the ongoing objections, the new application claims the cabin will not significantly harm neighbors’ privacy. Conwy Council noted that they have not enforced action yet, as the owners are still trying to regularize the construction. If the new planning application is denied, the council may consider further action.
