Nepal PM insists democracy must progress, rejects monarchy
Nepal's Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli stated that democracy has no "reverse gear," emphasizing the need to move forward. His comments came after pro-monarchist rallies supporting former King Gyanendra Shah, who recently returned to Nepal. Oli addressed the Women Leadership Summit, highlighting the importance of equal participation of men and women in society. He noted progress in women's leadership roles but called for further efforts in education, entrepreneurship, and politics. The pro-monarchist movement has gained momentum since February, with supporters demanding the reinstatement of the monarchy abolished in 2008.
