Nepali climber Nima Rinji Sherpa becomes youngest to summit all 14 of world's 8,000-meter peaks
Nima Rinji Sherpa, an 18-year-old Nepali mountaineer, has set a new record as the youngest person to summit all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks. He achieved this on October 9, 2024, by reaching the summit of Shisha Pangma in Tibet. Previously, the record was held by Mingma Gyabu 'David' Sherpa, who completed the feat at age 30 in 2019. Nima began high-altitude climbing at 16 and has already climbed 13 peaks before this latest achievement. Nima's success highlights the growing recognition of Nepali climbers, particularly Sherpas, who have traditionally supported foreign climbers. His accomplishment is seen as a significant moment for Nepal and its mountaineering community.
