Summary: Netflix has announced a new German film starring Louis Hofmann, inspired by the true story of the migrant rescue ship Iuventa. The film has begun shooting in Berlin and Malta.

Directed by Markus Goller, the film follows young Berliners from the NGO Jugend Rettet as they launch a crowdfunding campaign to buy a ship for rescuing refugees in the Mediterranean.

The screenplay is co-written by Oliver Ziegenbalg and Michele Cinque, with production design and music by Oscar winners from "All Quiet on the Western Front." The cast includes Mala Emde and Frederick Lau, among others.
