Netflix dramatizes Corby mothers' fight for justice
Netflix has released a new drama, "Toxic Town," based on the true story of mothers in Corby, UK, who fought for justice after their children were born with severe deformities linked to toxic waste mismanagement. The series highlights the legal battle against Corby Borough Council, which was found negligent in handling toxic waste from a former steelworks site. A landmark ruling in 2009 confirmed a significant cluster of birth defects in the area between 1989 and 1999. "Toxic Town" features actors Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lou Wood, and Claudia Jessie, portraying the mothers' struggles. The show began streaming on Netflix on February 27, 2025.
