Netflix UK adds acclaimed psychological thriller "The Replacement."

Netflix UK has added a psychological thriller called The Replacement, featuring Vicky McClure and Morven Christie. The series, which originally aired on BBC One in 2017, currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It follows a pregnant woman, Ellen, who becomes paranoid about her work rival, Paula. Ellen, played by Morven Christie, is an architect who has just achieved her career goals. After learning she is pregnant, she faces pressure to find her maternity cover. Paula, played by Vicky McClure, seems to fit the role perfectly. However, Ellen starts to feel like Paula is taking over her life, which leads to growing paranoia. The show's writer and director, Joe Ahearne, said he enjoys stories that explore paranoia. He believes they offer a chance to show a character’s internal thoughts visually. Both actresses hinted at the complex relationship between their characters. Ellen struggles with her changing identity, while Paula's true intentions remain unclear. The Replacement is now available for Netflix users in the UK, while viewers in the US can watch it on Prime Video. The series is not currently accessible on BBC iPlayer.
