Netflix's docuseries reveals South East London heist tale

Netflix will release a new docuseries called The Diamond Heist in April. This three-part series focuses on a failed attempt to steal the Millennium Star Diamond, which is worth £350 million. The heist took place in 2000 at the Millennium Dome, now known as The O2 Arena. The docuseries features interviews with criminals from South East London who plotted the heist. They share their stories, revealing their thoughts on the crime and the planning behind it. The trailer highlights convicted robber Lee Wenham, who discusses how he and his crew planned to infiltrate the vault and escape with the diamond. In the trailer, Lee admits, "I don't know anything about diamonds, but I think it was a bit of a piss take putting it where it was." He describes how they intended to pull off the heist, thinking it could be their biggest job yet. The story also includes perspectives from the Flying Squad, the police unit that worked to stop the heist. The series is executive produced by filmmaker Guy Ritchie and aims to provide a unique view of this spectacular crime attempt. The Diamond Heist will be available to stream on Netflix starting April 16.
