A new advanced life support service has started in Rockingham County. This comes after Exeter Hospital closed its service that had been operating for 32 years. Fire officials announced that trained paramedics are ready to handle any medical emergencies. The new service will cover 18 communities in the area. Previously, Exeter Hospital provided support to 13 towns with two paramedics and specialized equipment in an SUV. Beth Israel Lahey, the hospital's new owner, decided to shut down the service in September. After this, community officials worked together to establish the new regional program, which began on Friday. Two paramedics will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Plaistow Deputy Chief Widmac Laterion noted the excitement and support from the community for the new service. He expressed optimism about the positive impact they can make together. Exeter Hospital contributed significantly to the new program by donating vehicles, equipment, and $2 million. Participating towns will pay the same amount for the service as they did previously for the hospital's program.
