New airport in Rameswaram boosts Tamil Nadu development
Tamil Nadu has announced plans for a new airport in Rameswaram to enhance tourism and support regional development. This airport will complement the ongoing construction of a second airport in Parandur, near Chennai, which is 559.4 km away. The state budget for 2025-26 includes initiatives to boost infrastructure and industrial growth. A new maritime policy aims to revive shipbuilding and create 30,000 jobs, while a bioscience park near Chennai will focus on life sciences. Additionally, the 'Global City' project in Chennai will improve infrastructure with new road networks, IT systems, and recreational areas. The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation will begin the first phase of this project soon.
