New art gallery in Akron supports local artists
A new art gallery called Forever Changes is set to open in May at 35 S. Main St. in downtown Akron. The gallery will be located inside a studio run by creative agency Art x Love. It aims to support local artists and will allow community members to visit for free. Forever Changes will provide a space for local artists to exhibit and sell their work. The gallery is the next step for Mac and Allyse Love, who have worked with over 300 local artists since 2017. They want the gallery to foster connections between artists and the community. The gallery covers 3,000 square feet and can initially host 20 to 40 artists. Plans are in place to add mobile walls for better display options in the future. Mac Love will also create art live in a window space at the gallery, allowing visitors to see the art-making process. To help emerging artists, Forever Changes offers flexible commission structures. Artists can rent space for a monthly fee, and they can keep all of their sales. There is also an option for artists to display their work without upfront costs, in exchange for a portion of their sales. Forever Changes aims to make original art more accessible to people in the community. The Loves believe that many people want to support local artists and own unique pieces of art. They plan to announce the gallery's official opening date and hours on social media soon. Interested artists can contact them via email for exhibition opportunities.
