New bus terminus construction accelerates in Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur is seeing progress on the new inter-state bus terminus project. Construction has begun at a site near Vasundhara Estate along National Highway 33. The terminus will be built on nearly 10 acres of land. Shatabdi Majumdar, the Dhalbhum SDO, visited the site to assess the progress. She noted that the chosen location is ideal and will not create traffic issues. The current bus terminus in Bhuyadih will be moved to this new site soon. To facilitate the construction of a flyover on Dimna Road, the administration has halted heavy vehicle traffic, including inter-state buses, from the Dimna end to Mango. The flyover project started in September 2024 and is expected to take 18 months to complete. It aims to improve traffic flow and connectivity, with plans for a four-lane stretch on Dimna Road and a two-lane section on Purulia Road. Krishna Kumar, the deputy municipal commissioner, stated that the shrubs at the terminus site will be cleared and municipal waste will be removed before construction officially starts. The goal is to complete the terminus soon and ensure it operates fully.
