New cancellation rules implemented for UK driving tests
The UK Department for Transport will change driving test cancellation rules starting April 8. Learners must now provide 10 working days' notice to cancel or reschedule, up from three days. This aims to reduce the backlog of test slots. The waiting time for driving tests is currently nearly 21 weeks in England and over 15 weeks in Scotland. The DfT's seven-point plan includes hiring 450 new examiners and stricter booking conditions to improve efficiency. Concerns about overpriced driving test slots persist, with reports of third parties reselling them at inflated prices. The DVSA aims to reduce waiting times to seven weeks by December.
