New candidates mobilize for Singapore's upcoming elections
Singapore's political parties are increasing their outreach efforts as the deadline for the next election approaches. The polls are required to be held by November 23, and recent changes to electoral boundaries have spurred activity among candidates. The ruling People's Action Party (PAP) is seen considering new candidates. Goh Hanyan, a senior civil servant, was at a Meet-The-People session in Holland-Bukit Timah on March 17. She has worked in various roles in the Ministry of Digital Development and Information and previously in the Prime Minister's Office. David Hoe, also from the PAP, was spotted in Tampines GRC. He recently shifted from a role in the energy sector to being a director at a charity. He has engaged in community activities and aims to address cost-of-living concerns for residents. Gabriel Lam, the COO of a moving company, has also been active in Tampines GRC. He is involved in grassroots movements and was recently seen at a local event promoting community initiatives. He has previously received awards for his volunteer work. The People's Power Party (PPP) introduced new candidate Vere Nathan, 27, during a recent walkabout. He is an operations executive with interests in social legislation involving LGBTQ issues. Pang Heng Chuan, 56, represents Red Dot United (RDU). He has been active in various constituencies since joining the party and aims to connect with residents and represent their voices in parliament. Linda Low is another potential candidate, speculated to be from the Workers' Party. Little information is available about her, but she has been active in party events and community outreach. These emerging candidates reflect a vibrant political landscape as parties prepare for the upcoming elections.
