New critical care block planned for Silchar hospital
The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, laid the foundation stone for a new critical care block at SM Dev Civil Hospital in Silchar. This project will cost Rs 24 crore and will have 50 beds. The block will cover 6,335 square meters and will include five floors. The new facility aims to improve critical care services in the area. It will feature an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an operating theatre, isolation wards, and a pediatric care unit. These facilities are expected to meet the diverse needs of patients. During his visit, Sarma also announced plans for a new circuit house in Silchar. He believes that both projects will greatly benefit the Cachar region, especially in healthcare and infrastructure. Additionally, the state government is proposing the construction of a 200-bedded hospital in Silchar. To combat traffic issues in the town, a flyover is also planned.
