New Hampshire coffee shop embraces 'pro-women' motto
A coffee shop in New Hampshire has turned a negative online review into a positive motto. Flamingos Coffee Bar in Exeter embraced a comment that called the shop "disgustingly pro-women." The owner, MacKenzie Logan, found empowerment in the critique and decided to use it as a unifying slogan. The coffee shop features bright decor and offers creative drinks and food that attract many customers. Patrons say the coffee is consistently good. One customer mentioned, "They never go wrong." The shop has two locations, and people travel from far away to visit. Logan decided to gauge interest in T-shirts bearing the slogan "disgustingly pro-women." After receiving an enthusiastic response online, she began selling the shirts and shipping them across the country. The popularity of the shop continues to grow. Logan's mission extends beyond coffee. Twenty percent of profits from the T-shirts go to Exeter Area Womenade, a nonprofit that assists people in need. Logan is now on the board of this organization, helping those with urgent financial needs, like car repairs. She has expanded merchandise to include sweatshirts and mugs, and she plans to keep promoting the motto as long as people support it. Logan believes being pro-women is not anti-men, but rather a celebration of strength. She said the reviewer’s comment ended up doing something positive for her shop and the community.
