New Hampshire coffee shop embraces pro-women motto
A coffee shop in New Hampshire has turned an unfavorable online review into a positive slogan. Flamingos Coffee Bar in Exeter is known for its colorful atmosphere and tasty beverages. The owner, MacKenzie Logan, describes it as a fun and inviting place. The controversy began with a two-star review that complained the shop was "disgustingly pro-women." The reviewer felt unwelcome as a man. Logan initially felt hurt by the comment but soon found strength in it. She decided to embrace the phrase, calling it a great motto for her business. Logan asked her customers online if they would like T-shirts featuring the slogan. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and soon her garage became a shipping center for these shirts across the country. Customers travel long distances just to enjoy the coffee and atmosphere at Flamingos. Support for the slogan remains strong among customers. Many believe that being "pro-women" does not exclude support for others. A portion of the T-shirt sales goes to Exeter Area Womenade, a nonprofit that aids people in financial need. Logan is even now on the board of the nonprofit. The success of the slogan has led to more merchandise like sweatshirts and mugs. Logan plans to keep using the motto as long as there is interest. She believes in promoting feminism and sees the reviewer's comment as a source of empowerment for her coffee shop.
