New Jersey restaurant owner detained, gains community support

Emine was held for two weeks before being released on a $7,500 bond posted by a nonprofit. The Emanet family received significant community support during this time. A crowdfunding campaign raised over $327,000, and local residents expressed their solidarity with messages on the restaurant's windows. The couple, who have been in the U.S. since 2016 on religious worker visas, are now awaiting deportation hearings. Their case has been separated, causing additional stress for the family.
