New London man sentenced for court disruption
A man from New London received a 90-day prison sentence for a disruptive outburst in court. The incident occurred on Wednesday, when 31-year-old Victor Hall repeatedly ignored warnings from Judge John Newson to stop interrupting his attorney. Hall was upset about his legal representation and challenged the lack of police body camera footage he had requested. Hall arrived in court with sagging prison-issued pants, which led Judge Newson to tell him to pull them up. His agitation continued as he complained loudly. Hall has a history of criminal convictions and is currently held on a $350,000 bond for an armed carjacking that took place on March 10, 2023. In that robbery, Hall followed a woman into her garage, threatened her with a handgun, and stole her car. Police later found Hall after he crashed the stolen vehicle while fleeing. They discovered a handgun and ammunition in his possession. During the court proceedings, Hall's attorney, Jason Goddard, requested to be removed from the case, but Judge Newson declined to consider it immediately. This is Hall's third public defender, as two previous lawyers were allowed to withdraw. Newson accused Hall of trying to delay the process and scheduled the next court hearing for May 14. Hall faces serious charges, including first-degree robbery and reckless endangerment, alongside additional vehicle-related charges from Waterford police. His criminal record includes multiple offenses, raising concerns about his behavior and legal tactics.
