New Magic card allows unlimited deck copies
Wizards of the Coast has announced the latest set for Magic: The Gathering, called Tarkir: Dragonstorm. This new set brings players back to a world filled with dragons and epic battles. It also introduces new magical elements that create monsters in the sky. Among the three new cards revealed, Tempest Hawk is the most interesting. In the popular Commander format, players usually have one of each card type in their decks. However, Tempest Hawk allows players to include as many copies as they want. This rule is rare but similar to other cards like Persistent Petitioners. This could lead to exciting matchups in various formats. Set design lead Adam Prosak explained that Tempest Hawk supports a key theme of the set. He noted that many clans in Tarkir focus on having numerous creatures on the battlefield. “This card helps players bring out multiple creatures without using up hand space,” he said. Another card shown today is Fortress Kin-Guard, representing the Abzan Houses. Prosak described the Abzan as versatile, able to create several creatures or just one stronger one. He mentioned that this card is useful for players in sealed and draft formats. The final card revealed is Winternight Stories, which features a new mechanic called harmonize. This mechanic allows players to reduce the cost of casting a spell from the graveyard. Prosak highlighted the artwork, emphasizing how it captures the spirit of storytelling and the deeper themes within the set. Overall, Tarkir: Dragonstorm promises to be an engaging addition to Magic: The Gathering, bringing new strategies and creative elements for players to explore.
