New MG 4 electric hatchback launched in China
The second-generation MG 4 electric hatchback has been unveiled in China. This new model features a refreshed design and is lighter than its predecessor. The MG 4 has grown in size, now measuring 4.4 meters long, up from 4.3 meters. The wheelbase has also increased by 45 mm to 2.75 meters. This change puts the MG 4 in competition with other electric vehicles like the Citroën ë-C4 and Kia Niro EV. The styling of the new MG 4 is inspired by the Cyberster sports car, featuring sleek headlights and arrow-shaped brake lights. However, details about the interior and technical specifications are still to be disclosed. According to filings, the new MG 4 has a single electric motor with 161 horsepower, slightly less than the older model's 168 horsepower. The new model weighs 1,485 kg, a significant reduction from the older 1,620 kg. It is expected to have a similar driving range of around 218 miles, powered by a lithium-iron-phosphate battery. There will also be additional powertrain options available after the launch. The current MG 4 lineup includes a Long Range version, an Extended Range model, and a high-performance Xpower variant. These options offer different horsepower and range capabilities.
