New period pain supplement launches, $300K raised
Margo Harrison, an OB-GYN, has launched a new supplement line called Wave Bye to help women manage period pain. According to Harrison, the last notable product for period relief, Midol, was invented in 1911. Wave Bye offers daily supplements designed to promote cycle regularity and reduce symptoms like cramps, bleeding, migraines, fatigue, and irritability. The main product, Bye Irregularity, is intended to be taken every day for better predictability of periods. Two additional products, Bye Cramps and Bye Bad Cramps, should be taken two days before menstruation to effectively block painful symptoms. Harrison stated that existing medications often do not target the uterus directly, making Wave Bye a unique solution. The products are available in bundles that range from $70 to $80 on a subscription basis, with options for one-time purchases and longer-term plans. The company is also exploring retail partnerships with yoga studios and health shops. Harrison has raised $300,000 in funding, aiming for a total of $875,000, predominantly from angel investors. The funds will assist in developing new products and an app to manage dosing schedules. She believes Wave Bye can significantly improve the experience of menstruation for many women. In early tests, Wave Bye sold 25 units, with half of those being long-term purchases. Harrison is hopeful that as trust in the product grows, sales will increase further.
