New series highlights Natalia Grace's controversial adoption story

A new series called Good American Family has premiered, focusing on the real-life story of Natalia Grace. Natalia, a Ukrainian child with dwarfism, was adopted in the U.S. by Kristine and Michael Barnett in 2010. The show portrays the complicated and controversial events surrounding her adoption. Natalia faced accusations from her adoptive parents, who claimed she tried to harm them. In return, she accused them of abuse, which they dispute. The situation escalated when the Barnetts changed her birth year in court, trying to present her as an adult instead of a child. Later findings showed that she was indeed a minor. In 2011, Natalia was abandoned by the Barnetts when they moved to Canada. After living with another family, she is now with the DePaul family in New York. Although not officially adopted by them, Natalia says they have been supportive. She is working on her education and aiming to become a teacher. The new Hulu series is part of a larger narrative that includes a documentary series called The Curious Case Of Natalia Grace. Natalia, now 22, continues to cope with her past and hopes for a brighter future. Good American Family airs weekly, while it will debut on Disney+ in the UK in May.
