New structure discovered in the Oort Cloud region

Astronomers have made a major discovery in our solar system. They found a new structure called the Oort Cloud. This area extends far beyond the known planets, reaching a distance of about 2.2 trillion kilometers from the Sun. The Oort Cloud is divided into two main parts. The outer shell is about 10,000 astronomical units from the Sun and is influenced by nearby stars. The inner shell starts at 1,000 AU and is more stable due to the Sun's gravity. This structure is key to understanding how our solar system interacts with the Milky Way galaxy. Researchers from the Southwest Research Institute led this study. David Nesvorny, the lead author, noted that the Oort Cloud's presence changes our view of the solar system. It suggests that the dynamics between our solar system and the Milky Way are more complex than previously believed. This discovery may reshape our knowledge about space and its variety of structures.
