New tallest ride coming to Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Blackpool's Pleasure Beach Resort is excited to announce a new ride set to open in 2026. This attraction, named Project MMXXVI, will be the largest swinging pendulum ride in the UK, costing £8.72 million. It will stand 138 feet tall, nearly double the height of similar rides in other parks. The new ride will accommodate up to 40 riders at once. They will sit with their legs hanging down, creating a thrilling feeling of flying as the ride swings and spins. Amanda Thompson, the CEO, expressed her enthusiasm for the new attraction, describing it as dynamic and exhilarating. So far, work for the ride has begun, including demolishing the old Bowl-A-Drome site. The new ride will be located near the park's north perimeter, allowing riders to feel as if they are swinging over the sea. In addition to the new pendulum ride, Pleasure Beach Resort has revealed plans to update other attractions. The Ice Blast ride will be rebranded as 'Launch Pad' this spring. New scenes from the recent Wallace & Gromit movie will be added to the Thrill-O-Matic ride. The classic River Caves ride, a favorite since 1905, will also be refreshed. Currently, the resort is open for weekends in March. Starting April 5, it will welcome visitors on both weekends and weekdays.
