New York man charged with attempted murder in New Hampshire
A man from New York City is in jail in New Hampshire, facing charges of attempted murder. Erik Conover, who has a large following on social media, is accused of hitting a police officer with his car. During his court appearance, Conover denied the charges and claimed that police had falsified evidence against him. "I have everything right here, and it's all falsified," he said. He also expressed confidence in his intelligence, warning others not to challenge his mental competence. The incident began when police tried to stop Conover for speeding. He allegedly drove away for eight miles before stopping. When an officer approached him, he reportedly drove at the officer, hitting him in the leg before fleeing for another 28 miles. The officer was thrown about 40 feet and suffered a leg injury. Conover is facing several charges, including attempted murder. He describes himself as a public figure due to his nearly 3 million subscribers on YouTube and believes the police are targeting him. His parents joined the court hearing virtually, urging him to listen to his legal team. The prosecution argued that he should remain in custody, emphasizing that drivers should stop when police signal to pull over. The defense, however, asked for his release, stating he poses no threat and has a clean record. Conover was also arrested for a separate drunk driving charge, which he denies, claiming he has been sober for over 1,500 days. The judge ordered him to stay in jail and scheduled his next court appearance for next week.
