New Zealand soldier Dominic Abelen to be buried tomorrow

Dominic Bryce Abelen, a New Zealand soldier, will be laid to rest tomorrow in Christchurch. He was killed in Ukraine during the ongoing war in August 2022. His family shared a statement today, highlighting his bravery on the battlefield. They revealed that Abelen was leading a group of eight soldiers when he died. His father, Bryce Abelen, explained that Dominic helped his team escape while he held off Russian forces. At the time of his death, Abelen was on leave from the New Zealand Defence Force. He was engaged in a firefight to recapture an enemy trench. The family received his body back recently, allowing them to plan the funeral.
