thehindu.com

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has instructed a consultancy to revise the detailed project report for the Aroor-Edappally elevated highway. The revision will consider the vertical clearance for a proposed metro viaduct at Palarivattom Bypass Junction. Currently, 55% of the Aroor-Thuravur elevated highway is complete, with 75% expected by August. The project is set to open in February 2026. The elevated highway will connect to the ongoing 13-km stretch in Alappuzha, creating a total of 30 km. Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden has requested the revised report within a month, citing delays. The elevated highway aims to alleviate congestion on the busy 17-km stretch of NH 66, which has not yet begun expansion work.
