NIA charges three in Chandigarh hand grenade attack
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three individuals in a case linked to a hand grenade attack in Chandigarh. The incident occurred six months ago at a residence in Sector 10. The chargesheet reveals that the hand grenade used in the attack was made in Pakistan. The accused are identified as Rohan Masih, Vishal Masih, also known as Shalu, and Kuldeep, an auto-rickshaw driver. Their trial is set to begin on April 15, 2025. The attack took place on September 11, 2024, when Rohan and Vishal allegedly threw the hand grenade at the targeted house before fleeing the scene. They were later arrested by the Punjab Police. During questioning, the accused stated that their target was a retired Punjab police officer who had already moved from the residence, resulting in no casualties. The case was initially handled by the Chandigarh Police. However, due to potential international terrorist connections, the central government transferred it to the NIA. Kuldeep was the first to be arrested; however, the agency did not file a chargesheet against him within the required time, leading to his release on bail.
