Nikant Jain's office raided for corruption evidence
Lucknow police are investigating a bribery case involving senior government officials after arresting a middleman named Nikant Jain. His office was sealed on Saturday, following a court's approval, to gather more evidence. Jain, 39, was arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe on behalf of a senior IAS officer connected to a solar power plant project. The case started with a complaint from SAEL Solar P6 Private Limited, which claimed its project was wrongly rejected without reason. The CEO of Invest UP, Abhishek Prakash, has been suspended due to these allegations. Officials suspect Jain was involved in demanding a 5% commission for project approvals. They believe that documents and communication found on Jain's seized phones could reveal more about these corrupt practices. Assistant Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Dwivedi confirmed the sealing of Jain's office in Gomti Nagar. Police have cautioned Jain's family not to tamper with any materials. A search is planned for Monday to recover additional evidence. Two mobile phones were taken from Jain during his arrest. Investigators fear he may have deleted important details related to the case. These phones will undergo forensic examination to recover any lost information.
