Nilgiris summer festival features first Plantation Crops Show
The Nilgiris will celebrate its summer festival this year with a new event, the first-ever Plantation Crops Show. This was announced by District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru at a press conference. The festival will now include six major events. The other events are the 13th Vegetable Show, 11th Annual Spices Show, 20th Rose Show, 127th Flower Show, and the 65th Fruit Show. The Plantation Crops Show will showcase local crops such as tea, coffee, and areca nut. It will take place at Kattery Park near Coonoor from May 30 to June 1. The summer festival will start with the Vegetable Show on May 3 and 4 in Kotagiri. This will be followed by the Spices Show from May 9 to 11 in Gudalur. The Rose Show will occur from May 10 to May 12 at the Government Rose Garden in Udhagamandalam. The festival will conclude with several events, including the Flower Show from May 16 to May 21 at the Government Botanical Garden. The Fruit Show is scheduled for May 23 to May 25 in Sims Park, Coonoor, and will end with the Plantation Crops Show. The Collector assured that necessary facilities like parking, toilets, and drinking water would be provided for tourists. Regarding recent restrictions from the High Court on vehicle numbers entering the district, the Collector mentioned that a meeting with a high-level committee will take place soon to address the implementation of these orders.
