The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has awarded letters of award (LoA) to nine companies for setting up green hydrogen production facilities. This is part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission initiative by the Indian government. A total of 14 companies submitted bids, but the nine selected firms offered the lowest prices. The companies include Reliance Green Hydrogen, L&T Energy, Waaree Clean Energy, and several others. They have 36 months to complete their production facilities starting from the date of the award. This latest round of awards is known as Tranche II of Mode I. In January 2024, SECI announced the first round of winners under Tranche I. Notably, Reliance Green Hydrogen has been successful in both rounds of incentives. The government is aiming to boost green hydrogen production, with plans for a total capacity of 450,000 tonnes per year under this programme. The incentives are structured to gradually decrease over three years. Overall, the National Green Hydrogen Mission has a budget of approximately Rs 19,744 crore, with a significant portion allocated for production-linked incentives.
