Nishant Kumar may enter politics in Bihar elections
Nishant Kumar, the son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, may soon make his political debut. Speculation about his entry into politics has grown after a large poster featuring him and his father appeared outside the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) office in Patna. Nishant was also seen at recent Holi celebrations at the Chief Minister's residence, meeting with senior party leaders. This is the first time Nishant has been featured in a political hoarding. The poster thanks him for listening to the needs of Bihar. Earlier, posters encouraging him to enter politics were spotted in Patna. When asked about his plans, Nishant responded with a vague remark that left many curious. The presence of Nishant at the Holi party, where he interacted with top JD(U) officials, has fueled further speculation. Leaders like Sanjay Jha and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary engaged with him, hoping to capture moments with the young Kumar. There are mixed feelings within the party regarding Nishant's potential rise. Some leaders, like Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, support the idea, saying they will follow whatever decision Nitish Kumar makes. However, others, like Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha, have voiced concerns. Kushwaha warned that if Nishant takes a leading role, it might not differentiate his leadership from that of opposition leader Lalu Prasad. Meanwhile, a senior member of JD(U), Ashok Choudhary, stated that Nishant’s political involvement is a personal matter for the father and son to decide. Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi expressed a welcoming attitude towards Nishant, calling him capable and competent. He noted that many political figures in India have family members in politics, and if Nishant wishes to enter, there is no issue with it.
