A student at Mount Olive Middle School in New Jersey has filed a lawsuit after being struck in the face by a hockey puck during gym class. The lawsuit, filed by the student and his father, claims the gym teacher acted with negligence and recklessness. The incident reportedly took place on February 8, 2023, during a floor hockey game. According to the lawsuit, the physical education teacher “forcefully struck a hockey puck” at the student's face, causing serious injuries. The case has been brought against both the school district and the teacher, and it is currently being handled in Morris County Superior Court. The Mount Olive Board of Education oversees the school.
