No charges filed after dog attacks boy in Bel Air
A 4-year-old boy is recovering after being attacked by a dog in a playground in Bel Air. The incident took place on March 11, and emergency personnel took the boy to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and later released. Police later found the dog and its owner. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office said no charges will be filed against the owner. This is because the attack occurred during what they described as a "consensual encounter" while the dog was on a leash. The dog has been classified as "dangerous." This means that it must be leashed and muzzled whenever it is off its owner's property and supervised when on the property after a 10-day quarantine period. During the attack, the boy was with his father near the playground. The dog's owner was not present when paramedics arrived. The owner reportedly took the dog away quickly due to the chaos at the scene, which involved many children. Animal control later arranged a meeting with the unidentified owner. The dog, believed to be a German shepherd mix, is currently under quarantine at its home.
