The BJP government has reinforced the DMK party's criticism of the three-language policy in India. This follows the revelation that there are no officially sanctioned Tamil teachers in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in Tamil Nadu. DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi asked the Union education ministry for information about the teachers currently employed in KVs in Tamil Nadu. In their response, the ministry confirmed that teacher posts are only authorized for Hindi, English, and Sanskrit. However, they noted that schools can hire part-time teachers for Tamil if enough students request it. Currently, only 24 part-time teachers are working in KVs for Tamil. The ministry also mentioned that Tamil language instruction is provided in 21 KVs through the Tamil Virtual Academy, an organization based in Tamil Nadu. In contrast, there are 86 Hindi teachers and 65 Sanskrit teachers employed in the state. In response, Kanimozhi expressed her concerns on social media. She questioned whether Hindi or Sanskrit are recognized as national languages and highlighted the potential impact of the government's policies on regional languages.
