NOAA forecasts warmer spring for much of the U.S
Spring has officially arrived, bringing warmer weather to many parts of the United States. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released its 2025 spring outlook, and it predicts above-average temperatures for most areas, especially along the East and Gulf Coasts. In particular, central and southern Florida, as well as parts of Texas, Louisiana, Utah, and Nevada, are expected to see the warmest conditions. This forecast comes as a relief to those who have been dealing with cold winter temperatures. However, not all areas will benefit from increased rainfall. Much of the U.S. is still facing dry conditions. Currently, about 40% of the continental U.S. is experiencing moderate to exceptional drought. New York City is among the areas still under moderate drought conditions. NOAA's report also highlights severe droughts in the Southwest and parts of the Rocky Mountains. With less rain expected in the western U.S., these drought conditions are likely to continue. On the East Coast, the chance of significant flooding this spring is low, as both the East Coast and western states have received less precipitation than usual this winter.
