Noida Authority to discuss land policy and stalled projects
Noida Authority will hold an important board meeting on March 28. The meeting will focus on the annual budget and progress on stalled housing projects. These projects are part of the Uttar Pradesh government's rehabilitation package. Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has outlined five key topics for discussion. One major item will be the review of stalled housing projects, guided by a report from former bureaucrat Amitabh Kant. The board will also look at changes to policies for land allotments and compensation for farmers. A highlight of the meeting will be the presentation of this year’s budget. The budget for 2025-26 is expected to be around Rs 9,000 crore, which is a rise from Rs 7,700 crore for the previous year. This funding will support infrastructure projects like road and drainage construction, water supply systems, and the development of new industrial areas. Additionally, the board may approve an increase in land allotment rates due to rising property prices in Noida. There are also plans to discuss compensation rates for landowners in the new ‘New Noida’ region. The Authority plans to allocate Rs 100 crore to improve infrastructure in 81 villages nearby. This includes road construction and drainage upgrades. Last year, they aimed to spend Rs 1,200 crore on civil projects but only achieved 60% of that goal. This year’s budget for civil works is set to rise to Rs 1,400 crore, supporting many new construction activities.
