Noida enforces stricter rainwater and EV infrastructure regulations
The Noida authority is stepping up enforcement of rainwater harvesting and electric vehicle (EV) charging regulations. Starting soon, buildings without rainwater harvesting systems will not receive approval or occupancy certificates. Many owners stop maintaining these systems after getting the necessary approvals, which reduces conservation efforts. To address this issue, the authority plans to conduct surprise inspections before the monsoon season. They aim to ensure property owners follow the rules for rainwater harvesting systems. Noida CEO Lokesh M has instructed officials to report on the condition of these systems. If they find systems are not working, the authority may take serious actions, including canceling land leases. All property owners with plots larger than 300 square meters must clean and restore their rainwater harvesting systems by March 31, 2025. Inspections will begin on April 1, and penalties will be imposed for non-compliance. The authority is also focusing on EV infrastructure. New buildings are required to have 20% of their parking spaces ready for EV charging. Inspections will check if this rule is followed, and properties that do not comply will be penalized. Additionally, there are concerns about the maintenance of green spaces managed by certain organizations under their corporate social responsibility programs. Officials will seek clarification from these organizations and take action if needed. To improve public safety, the authority will enhance street lighting along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and nearby roads.
