Noida farmers threaten protests over compensation demands
Farmers in Noida are threatening to protest if the Uttar Pradesh government does not address their demands for increased compensation for land acquired since 1997 by March 20. They have been in talks with police officials regarding their concerns. The government had previously directed development authorities to identify eligible farmers for compensation and expedite payments. This directive followed significant protests that began on December 2, when thousands of farmers attempted to march to Delhi. Farmers had sought a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during his visit on March 8, but it was postponed. They are now awaiting a resolution before deciding on further action.
