Noida's power department is working to improve the city's electricity infrastructure as summer approaches. They plan to replace old power poles and wires, trim trees, and enhance the capacity of power transformers by April 15. So far, over 70% of the work for the summer plans has been completed, with a budget of Rs 124.9 crores. A meeting on Monday included local leaders and power department officials. They discussed the ongoing projects and mentioned that planned power shutdowns would end after April 20. These shutdowns were necessary for repair and infrastructure upgrades in areas like Dadri, Jewar, Noida, and Bisrakh. Harish Bansal, the chief engineer, reported that last year, 1,031 projects were completed under the department’s business plan. This included replacing faulty equipment and fixing damaged wires across Noida and surrounding areas. Officials acknowledged that similar improvements are happening in industrial areas. Harish Joneja from the Noida Entrepreneurs Association noted that the power department is adding transformers at substations to handle demand better. They are also addressing tree overgrowth and completing more projects to ensure reliable services during the summer. Meanwhile, some parts of Ghaziabad are experiencing power outages due to overloaded transformers. Areas like Lal Kuan and Vijaynagar have seen disruptions as officials work to fix these issues. It is taking time to identify and resolve the faults causing these outages.
