Noida traffic police implement diversion plans for congestion
Noida traffic police are implementing new emergency traffic diversion plans to handle congestion on major roads. This includes the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and specific routes like the 130-metre road and Surajpur area. The plan was announced by officials on Monday. The police have identified 22 key emergency diversion points. Most of these points are on the Noida Expressway, where traffic is usually heavy. Deputy Commissioner of Police Lakhan Singh Yadav said these measures aim to keep traffic flowing and prevent long delays. Traffic diversions will take effect when officers notice that congestion is starting or if there is a gridlock. They may also adjust routes during the movement of VIPs. For example, if there is traffic pressure on Film City Road heading towards the Expressway, vehicles will be redirected to Sector 16. Officers stated that for congestion near Mahamaya flyover, traffic may be moved to other sectors to alleviate pressure. The emergency measures will typically last for 15 to 30 minutes until traffic eases. Experts like Dr. S. Velmurugan from the Central Road Research Institute noted that without proper communication, diversions could worsen congestion on alternate routes. He suggested that posting updates on social media could help drivers choose different paths. Some commuters have expressed concerns. Anand Mishra, a regular traveler to Delhi, said that diversions increase travel time and fuel costs. He believes that better traffic management is key to reducing congestion, rather than simply diverting vehicles.
