Non-bailable warrant issued for bank manager in Mohali

A court in Mohali has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Hema Pandwa, a branch manager at Axis Bank. This comes after she failed to appear in a money laundering case involving MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira. The court session took place at the Additional District Sessions Judge's court, where Khaira was present. The next hearing is set for April 4. The judge expressed concern that a key witness was hesitant to provide evidence, which contributed to the warrant being issued. The court instructed that Pandwa must bring the necessary records to the next hearing. Durga Parshad Yadav, a representative from Axis Bank, assured that he would ensure Pandwa is prepared. Witness Anupam Nagpal was also present and gave his statement. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has charged Khaira, claiming he received 100,000 Canadian dollars during a trip to America for the Aam Aadmi Party. Controversially, a photo of Khaira with a person linked to a drug case has also surfaced. Khaira was previously arrested in relation to a drug and hawala transaction case from 2017. The police found heroin, gold biscuits, firearms, and a fake passport in this investigation. Khaira denies any wrongdoing and claims the accusations are politically motivated, blaming rival politicians for his troubles.
