Nord Security has launched its NordProtect identity theft protection as a standalone service. This means US customers can now access it without needing a NordVPN subscription. NordProtect was previously available only with a NordVPN Prime plan. The service provides extensive protection against identity theft and offers insurance. It includes up to $1 million for recovery from identity theft, $50,000 for cyber extortion protection, and $10,000 for online fraud coverage. The service monitors the dark web for sensitive information, such as email addresses and Social Security numbers. It alerts users if their data appears on hacker forums. Additionally, it offers credit monitoring to catch any suspicious changes to credit scores due to fraud. Tomas Sinicki, managing director of NordProtect, emphasized the growth of online fraud and the need for protection tools. He noted that the expanded service provides better monitoring of personal information and coverage for certain online fraud incidents. Currently, the service is available only to US customers. To promote the launch, NordProtect is offering a 50% discount, reducing the annual cost to $89.88.
