North Allegheny boys volleyball aims to reclaim championship title

North Allegheny boys volleyball is determined to win the WPIAL title this year. After losing the past two championships to Shaler, the Tigers are eager to reclaim their position as the top team. They have been ranked first in the 2025 Western Pennsylvania Coaches Association preseason poll. Coach Dan Long believes his team is ready, saying they have learned from past disappointments. The Tigers have a strong history, having won 16 out of the last 21 WPIAL titles. Last season, they had a record of 13 wins and 3 losses. Returning standout players include Will Robertson and Peter Bratich, who are excited about the upcoming season. Bratich noted that the team has gained valuable experience from their previous championship runs. They aim to overcome last year’s setbacks. However, the team needs to replace some key players. Will Hahn, the libero, and setter Nicolas Carioto have graduated, leaving new juniors Jackson Failla and Elliott Swierczynski to take their places. Emmett Morris will step up as the new libero. The Tigers still have a talented front line, with many players returning. They are known for their strong hitting and blocking. The team has also been active during the off-season, competing successfully in various tournaments. North Allegheny’s section is competitive, with top teams also ranking high in the preseason. The Tigers started their season strong by defeating Shaler in their opener. This season, they will face the challenge of being the team that others want to beat. Coach Long is optimistic about how this group will respond to the pressure.
