North Allegheny, Pine-Richland baseball teams face off today

North Allegheny and Pine-Richland will clash in a highly anticipated baseball game on March 19, 2025. These two schools have a strong baseball history, with a combined total of 13 district championships over the years. They last faced each other in a championship game in 2017, where Pine-Richland won 3-2. This upcoming match is special because it marks the first time in nearly 20 years that they will compete in a nonsection game. Pine-Richland has recently moved down to Class 5A, while North Allegheny remains in Class 6A. The last time they were not section rivals was back in 2006. Both teams are currently ranked No. 1 in their respective classes and are expected to perform well this season. The game is set to take place at 4 p.m. at North Allegheny. In addition, another notable matchup will occur between Mt. Lebanon and Upper St. Clair from the southern part of the district. Mt. Lebanon, in Class 6A, will host 5A Upper St. Clair. This is part of a series of games between the two teams, who often play against each other. Meanwhile, several WPIAL baseball and softball teams are traveling south for games. Laurel Highlands and Bentworth are participating in the Ripken Experience in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Elizabeth Forward, the defending champion in 4A, is playing in the KSA Disney Classic in Orlando, Florida. Additionally, three teams, including Bethel Park, South Allegheny, and Shenango, are at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Penn-Trafford is also continuing its southern trip in Vero Beach, Florida.
